Ringette Scores On Cancer is a non-profit organization registered with the Canada Revenue Agency as a Canadian charitable organization.
The objectives of Ringette Scores On Cancer are twofold. First, to raise money to be used for cancer research by the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Second, to promote an active healthy lifestyle among children through their involvement in sports.
To accomplish its first objective, the Ringette Scores On Cancer tournament is held annually in January. This event has raised approximately $875,000 over the past eleven years for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
To accomplish its second objective, a school visitation program is carried out in May and June each year throughout Northern Alberta. Members of Ringette Scores On Cancer visit elementary and junior high schools to discuss the importance of healthy life styles through participation in sport, as well as the importance of academic success. The school children are given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience about the sport of ringette by learning and playing ringette in their school's gymnasium. Details pertaining to the school visitation program can be found by clicking on the appropriate link on the left hand side.
